Brighton & Hove City Council Audit Commission Repor t
The Audit Commission are an independent body that are responsible for ensuring that public money is spent economically, efficiently and effectively in the areas of local government, housing, health, criminal justice and the fire & rescue services. In a press release published in March, the Audit Commission said:“The administration of the Supporting People programme by Brighton & Hove City Council is judged to be ‘good’ with ‘promising prospects for improvement’”.
“On a scale from zero to three stars, the Audit Commission’s housing inspection team, along with inspectors from HMIP (Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Probation) and CSCI (the Commission for Social Care Inspection), gave the Council two stars. The inspectors found the Council has established strong delivery ar rangements for the programme. A skilled staff team is administering the programme effectively, with the full engagement of key partners. Governance arrangements are working well and there has been systematic research into the supply and need for supported housing services in the city.”
As part of the inspection process, Brighton & Hove City Council submitted a self-assessment multimedia package in November 2005. G2+ were instrumental in this process. They designed the branding for the whole package, produced an interactive CD-rom, signage for a visioning event and hard copies of all the evidence needed to help achieve this fantastic result.
